The Mother Journey

The virginal quality is hard to resist —the bright shine, the colorful glow, the gleam of adventure ready to burst from within Her innocence drips charmtoward those who want to form her anew. Yet, the purity she carries is not naivety, nor is it ignorance to the ways of the world. Trust me, her nature leads her to track like a wolf,to see with the eyes of a hawk, clever ideas spin in her dreams The path winds, the road travels hard, her blood pulses rich as new life beats within. The trek takes her deeper, darker —into the resources of herself. Sleeping, shadows…

Coming Home

Welcome to my newly designed website. Exciting things are happening. Not everything is complete, but I hope you’ll take a look around to see what’s new! Poet and painter, E.E. Cummings wrote, “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” Crossroads in our life offer us an opportunity, a doorway. The opening asks us to lean in, to reflect upon our inner knowing and choose the direction God is calling us toward. More often than not, this direction asks us to leave something behind. We may need to put down our busyness, place aside our people…

Advent Pilgrimage

It’s hard to believe, but next Sunday begins Advent. Advent is a journey. A season inviting us to prepare. A season asking us to engage and dance with it. We wait with the hope of new birth in the world. This year, I have teamed up with my friend, Monica Hix, creator of Inner Ground, and Jacinta White, poet/writer, to provide a free, online Advent Retreat. Each week, art (Ally Markotich), poetry (Jacinta White) and meditation (Monica Hix) along with guidelines for using Visio Divina and journaling prompts as an invitation to deeper reflection will be offered. The themes each week…

A Spark, Some Fear & Bravery

Did you know there’s a path marked especially for you? “I don’t know what it is,” you say. Shhhhhh… let’s sit and listen for a while. Do you hear it? (hum.) It’s your life speaking. Notice the spark which lights you from within? See how time is forgotten when you are in the flow? What’s that? Bubbling anger? Don’t dismiss it. It has come to teach you something. Does this injustice need your unique voice? “I’m afraid,” you admit. Beloved, I see your fear. Fear of change. Fear of joy. “I have too much to lose. I’m scared of excess…

The Long Road of Esau

The story of Jacob and Esau is one of my favorites. The reason is because I when I first read about these brothers, I was blown away by the family dynamics in this story. The twins have contempt for each other from the time they are in Rebekah’s womb! There is clear favoritism from the parents. There is lying and deceiving and conniving! There are death threats and hot anger! If you’ve never encountered this story, I highly recommend reading Genesis 25:19-33:20. While Jacob fascinates me in his own right, lately, it’s Esau I’ve been considering. The Long Road of…
