She. is. becoming.

I have quite a few friends these days who are taking brave risks in their lives. I’m amazed by the way these fellow kindred souls are challenging the status quo, saying yes to the daring and keeping their hearts open to where the Spirit is flowing in their life. This poem is dedicated to those of you who are taking one small step toward your becoming. Cheers to you and your courage! She is becoming. She’s not finished yet. No, she still has loads of color to splash around. A palette of rainbow to fling toward the universe. She has…

The Burden of Good & Bad

Living with two young boys, I’m bombarded daily with stories of good and bad. They love to tell me how they’ve been shortchanged by one another or by friends or at the soccer field or at school. And, surprisingly, they are always the hero of the tale. The one who has done no wrong. The star in the night sky. Oh, how I relate! I, too, want to be the heroine of my life. This leads me to consider: If we are created in God’s image and the first thing God did was to create, it seems simple to link these and…

Lost & Found.

Last Fall, I had a conversation with my soul friend, Jennifer. I told her how lost I felt. She said, “That’s interesting, because when we talk about Jesus, we talk about being found.” This simple comment made a profound impact. I began to think about being found in Christ. I had spent the last few years pursuing Christ. Reading my Bible. Reading books. Volunteering for church. Writing my gratitude list. Keeping up with prayers. “Do”ing many good things. “Do”ing the things “good” Christians “do”. I was involved. I was trying. I was busy. And for a time, that was exactly…
