She—
keeper of the flame,
torch bearer,
love receiver.
She—
holds the light, tender.
A gift given
freely, with love.
Shadows fall,
night comes again.
Still, an ember glows.
She is tasked
to share the light
abundantly.
Often, she is a mirror,
reflecting what
she receives.
The flame doesn’t scold her,
simply keeps gleaming,
a constant.
As she gazes intent,
the light flickers,
invites:
“Come, dance with me!”
She lets her hair flow down,
dances, sings
with abandon.
Passion engulfs her.
Her voice laughs, energized,
her breath blows the blaze,
sparks another.
She —
launcher of the flame,
torch sharer,
love giver.
To Ponder:
“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” – Matthew 5:15
Reflect on how you are a recipient and giver of God’s light.
