Saturday (Thought) Pause

Teachers are not only those who come beside us in a school room,
but are those who guide us gently and grow us beyond our borders.

Teachers are also those we will never meet,
the strangers around us who exhibit the spectrum of humanity.

How much do I gain when I simply notice the unfamiliar?
How much more do I gain when I welcome the unfamiliar with love?

To Ponder:
“Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” – Hebrews 13:1-2

Welcoming God,
Help me to see the stranger in my midst. Help me to grow from noticing the unfamiliar. Help me to welcome the unknown with a kind glance rather than a gaping stare. Grow my compassion. Amen.
